Hey, look: Ground Zero has a Yelp page. And it’s only got four stars! We know Yelpers can be harsh, but can’t the site of one of the century’s defining moments catch a break? More »

“I give Ground Zero 2 stars because after 9 years, all we have is a hole in the ground.”
I’d hate to see his review of the Grand Canyon.
meechybee
@monkey_biz: Nothing is as tacky as “Ground Zero” tee shirts and they are not very somber and reflective even at the WTC site. They are boisterous and annoying every where they go.

@NoDebutante: Well, if it helps, here’s Google Translate’s version of Lilly’s review:
“I associate more with the Dachau concentration camp. I get a queasy feeling when it says “I’ll pick you up, let’s go to Dachau.
At the gate is the famous and much-quoted phrase “Arbeit macht frei” appropriate. 1933, the camp for ‘political prisoners was opened – 41 500 people died here.
In 1965 the camp was opened at the initiative of former Survivor again as a memorial.
The visitor center, where a new entrance was created, which retraces the path of the prisoners, there is only since 2009. There are guided tours, or the ability to do with the audio guide his own explorations. And who is not yet the appetite is gone, can come into the cafe. ”
OK then.

@misslinda: Ohhh yea…that’s a serious fail…

Apparently it’s tough to get 5 stars. The Dachau Concentration Camp site only gets 4.5 stars. [www.yelp.com]
If I could read German, maybe I’d know why Lilly only gave it 3 stars. Bad food in the cafe? Or was it a little overkill with the emotion?

Check out the Yelp reviews for prisons:
Great location!??
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 By Tobias – May 17, 2008
Great food, spacious rooms and an excellent view. The staff was extremely attentive though, but overall an excellent deal. I would definitely stay again!?

Best stay in town! Free food, free drinks, free rooms. All tabs are picked up by taxpayers?

@allyzay: Is he currently battling with the Port Authority for the Mayorship?
oh no i di’n't
They really need to up their service. When ever I go there, I just stand and stare until someone helps me. No one ever does.
TheGarySinise
I am not from New York, so I would like to assemble a caravan of protesters to visit your town and protest this.
Would you guys mind?
oh no i di’n't
Two stars for Auschwitz! It’s depressing, and there’s no gift shop.
TheBusinessGuy
For some reason, I’m not sure the irony applied to a Three Wolf Moon t-shirt directly applies to Ground Zero.
Eustace Silly
I gave it 2 stars because my freedom fries were soggy.

Another good one-of-these is the Yelp reviews of the Holland Tunnel: [www.yelp.com]

Hey Anya F…if it’s that’s troubling to you, how about you just not rate it AT ALL?? I mean, am I missing something? Or is Yelping such a corrosively addictive disease that you absolutely must rate each and every single thing you come in contact with, no matter how absurd???
rebeccarose
I think that even having that entry is in poor taste.

@BxgrlJeri: Los Angeles was flooded with “I [heart] NY” t-shirts from the depths of 70′s Hell.
…and inverted flag stickers started showing up on car windows all over the city.

@formergr: Well played.
badasscat
It’s time for the term “Ground Zero” to go the way of “Freetom Tower.” Kthx.
Mr. B.
@westendgirl: That TGI Fridays is hallowed ground.
badasscat
@erinsonb: I pondered that as well.
LessLikeYou
Well, to be fair, last night I dreamed I went to Ground Zero with the Pope while we held hands and ate frozen yogurt. (Seriously.) Papa Ratzi probably brought the rating of Ground Zero down a little bit. You can never really rid a place of that ‘corrupt/pedophilia’ stench.
sarah.of.a.lesser.god (aka Mrs. BrutallyHonestHobbit)
@erinsonb: I just saw that too. Bizarre.
formergr
Good lord, even the Oklahoma City memorial has a Yelp entry, and has 5 stars [www.yelp.com]
Though that could be because of the better seating options.
formergr
@UweBollocks: Well-played.

@allyzay: Someone profile this man.

@BxgrlJeri: If you live in New York, you should be used to stupid tourists in tacky tee shirts by now. 9/11 just made them somber and reflective in a certain part of town, rather than just annoying.
monkey_biz
Also, categorized under “local flavor”? how and why??
erinsonb
Until I read the article, I was 100% certain the only reason it didn’t have a 5-star review was because of Armond White.
UweBollocks
I’m surprised some asshole didn’t give it one star because his terrorist took longer than 3 minutes to bring him water
putin rears his head
If you think this is bad, just wait till the ground zero mosque is up for rating.
Cagnazzo82
In the year or so following 9/11 people were selling, and tourists were buying, Ground Zero tee-shirts and hats.
My city was blown to smithereens and all I got was stupid tourists in tacky tee shirts.
BxgrlJeri
“Depressing, but only steps away from a TGI Friday’s.”

@shostakobitch: Yes, and he’s been there 40 times:

“Noisy. Good shopping nearby. Needs more Moslem community gathering places.”
SavetoFavorites
Well to be honest, I gave the former location of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers one star because to be quite honest it was dusty in the heat, muddy in the rain and the hot dog and pretzel guy is just too damn expensive. I mean really, $2.50 for a dirty water dog is appalling.
Edit: My HTML-fu was weak on this post.

The bottom right “Work Here? Unlock This Business Page” link is a tad disturbing.

I tried calling that number for reservations but the mailbox is full.

Is anybody the Mayor of Ground Zero on Foursquare?

To be fair, the decor is terrible.
